Bayou Drama
It's been quite challenging the last 24 hours. It all started on Tuesday morning. I came home from work and my father in law John was already home laying in bed. Kay had picked him up around lunch time because he had hurt his back. He went to the chiropractor and they just gave him some ice packs. He laid in bed all evening and we all finally went to bed. Around 3 am John was in so much pain he tried to get out of bed and fell. So we had to call an ambulance to come take him to the hospital because he could not move and we could not move him either. The emergency room at Saint Francis was terrible, it was so busy that they were transporting patients to other hospitals. It took them 4 hours to give John a pain shot. You can only imagine how hard it was to watch him suffer for that long. They finally admitted him and moved him upstairs, where we then waited another 3 hours for a nurse to even check on him. Me and Kay had to go to the nurse station and complain just to get some assistance. We finally had some doctors come in and tell us that John had ruptured a disk in his lower back and he had the option of surgery and removing the disk or a procedure where they inject steroids onto the disk to reduce the pain and swelling. So he is going to try the steroid injection 3 times and then if that doesn't work he'll have to do the surgery. He spent the night in the hospital last night and his procedure is today at noon. We just have to keep him in our prayers and hope for the best. Overall I am very disappointed in the lack of service that hospital provided. I could go on and on about everything that they did wrong but they aren't even worth my time or yours. That will be all for now.
